The National Law University Delhi, established in 2008 by Act No. 1 of 2008 of Delhi is a premier law university in the
capital city of India. The University invites online applications for admission to undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D
programmes for the Academic Year 2025-26

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME

Eligibility: Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2 system) or an equivalent examination with 45% marks (42% in case of OBC’s and 40% for SC/ST). Candidates appearing for the 12th standard annual examination in 2025 are eligible to apply.

Number of seats:

  • B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) Programme
    Total Seats: 110+10 (110 seats on AILET merit; 5 seats each for Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO for direct admission on merit). Foreign Nationals/OCI/PIO are exempted from AILET but should have 65% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • B.Com.LL.B.(Hons.)-Non-Residential Programme
    Total Seats: 50+10 (50 seats on AILET merit; 5 seats each for Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO for direct admission on merit). Foreign Nationals/OCI/PIO are exempted from AILET but should have 65% marks in the qualifying examination.
    The supernumerary seats for Kashmiri Migrants (one seat) and Residents of Jammu & Kashmir (two seats) in each undergraduate programme will be finalised in consultation with Bar Council of India (BCI) shortly. If the BCI permits these supernumerary seats during the admission process, the university will allow candidates to exercise the option as follows:
     a) Before the last date for submission of the online application form: All eligible candidates can apply and exercise the option.
  • b) After the last date for submission of online application forms and before the announcement of AILET 2025 results:
  • Candidates who appeared in the All-India Law Entrance Test.
  • c) After the announcement of AILET 2025 results and before the commencement of classes: Candidates who appeared in the All-India Law Entrance Test 2025.
  • POSTGRADUATE PROGRAM

  •  LL.M. (One Year) Non-Residential Programme
  • Eligibility: LL.B. or an equivalent law degree with 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/ Persons with Disabilities). Candidates appearing for the final year LL.B. annual examination in 2025 are eligible to apply.
    Total Seats: 70+10 (70 seats on AILET merit; 5 seats each for Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO for direct admission on merit).
    Foreign Nationals/OCI/PIO are exempted from AILET.
    Additional Supernumerary Seats: One seat for Kashmiri Migrants.
  • JOINT MASTERS/ LL.M. IN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY (IP) LAW AND MANAGEMENT (NON-RESIDENTIAL)
    a) Master of Law (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property Law and Management
  • Eligibility: Candidate should have completed LL.B. or an equivalent degree from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate (50% for reserved categories such as SC/ST/Persons with Disability).
    Total Seats: 25 Seats for Indian Nationals and 10 for Foreign Nationals
    Additional Supernumerary Seats: 5 Seats for Officials of CGPDTM

  • b) Master of Arts (M.A.) in Intellectual Property Law and Management
    Eligibility: (i) Candidates must have completed two bachelor’s degrees in succession, including one in the relevant discipline; or
    (ii) An integrated degree programme of five years in the relevant discipline after completing plus two; or
    (iii) An equivalent post-graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university; or
    (iv) Candidates completing a four-year bachelor’s programme with Honours/Research, from a recognized university
    In all the above-mentioned cases, the candidate must have secured a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate (50% for
    reserved categories such as SC/ST/Persons with Disability)
    Total Seats: 25 Seats for Indian Nationals and 10 for Foreign Nationals
    Additional Supernumerary Seats: 5 Seats for Officials of CGPDTM
    Admission Process: 70% Weightage will be given to AILET Merit. The remaining 30% weightage will be allocated with
    distribution of 15% each between the interview and group discussion.
    Two times the number of available seats shall be called for the interview based on the performance in the written entrance
    examination.
    Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO are exempted from taking the AILET. Their admission shall be based on (i) Academic
    record of the qualifying examination (70% Weightage); (ii) Group Discussion (15% Weightage); and (iii) Interview (15%
    Weightage).
    Ph.D. PROGRAMME
    • Ph.D. in Law
    Eligibility: LL.M. or an equivalent law degree with 55% marks (50% SC/ST/OBCs non-creamy layer/ Differently
    Abled/Economically Weaker Section) Total Seats: 25+2 (UGC-JRF: 8 seats, AILET Merit -16 seats, Fellowhship-1 and
    Foreign Nationals-2 Seats).
    • Ph.D. in Social Sciences viz., Political Science, Sociology, Criminology, Economics and English
    Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in relevant Social Sciences or humanities with 55% marks (50%
    SC/ST/OBCs non-creamy layer/ Differently Abled/Economically Weaker Section). Total Seats: – 4 (UGC JRF).
    UGC-JRF candidates and Foreign Nationals are exempted from AILET. The University will follow the reservation policy as
    the UGC Regulations.
    The number of seats according to specialization will be notified on the University website in due course, if required

Syllabus

  • For the BA LLB exam, focus is typically on:

    • English: Grammar, comprehension, and vocabulary.
    • General Knowledge: Current affairs, static GK, and general awareness.
    • Legal Aptitude: Legal principles, logical reasoning, and legal maxims.
    • Logical Reasoning: Analytical and critical reasoning.
    • Mathematics: Basic arithmetic and data interpretation.
  • For the LLM exam, focus is generally on:

    • Constitutional Law
    • Jurisprudence
    • Legal Theory and Philosophy
