HPSC HCS Eligibility Criteria 2023 

Candidates should check the eligibility criteria for the Haryana Civil Services Examination 2023 before applying for the same. Eligibility criteria typically consist of three major factors which include nationality/citizenship, age limit/ relaxation and educational qualification. Here we are providing details on these factors through which you will be able to check the eligibility for HCS 2023:-

Nationality

To be eligible for the HCS examination, a candidate must meet one of the following criteria: 

(a) Be an Indian citizen. 

(b) Be a citizen of Nepal. 

(c) Be a citizen of Bhutan. 

(d) Be a Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before 1 January 1962, with the intention of staying in India permanently. 

(e) Be a person of Indian origin who has moved to India with the intention of making it their permanent home, and originally hailed from countries such as Pakistan, Burma, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Zaire, Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia or Vietnam.

Age Limit 

Candidates’ age should be between 18 and 42 years old by 1 January 2023 except for the post of DSP. But, if you want to be a DSP, you should be between 18 and 27 years old by 1 January 2023. Relaxation in age is also permissible for special categories.

Relaxation In Age

Relaxation in age will be provided to some special categories, candidates can check the category-wise upper age limit in the following table:-

Individuals with disabilities who are protected under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. 5-year age relaxation, and if they also belong to specific categories (S/Caste, S/Tribe, B/Classes, EWS), they can get an additional 5-year relaxation. However, the maximum age limit is capped at 52 years. This rule applies to Group A & B posts filled through open competitive exams.
Wives of military personnel who became disabled while serving in the military. 5 years
Widowed or legally divorced women 5 years
Women who have undergone a legal separation and have been living apart for more than two years from the age reference date set for applicants in other categories. 5 years

Educational Qualification

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in Arts, Science, Commerce, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university to apply for the Haryana Civil Services Examination.

Physical Standard

Physical Standards are also applicable for DSPs. According to the Haryana Police Service Rules, 2002, the physical standards for the position of Deputy Superintendent of Police are as follows:

HPSC HCS Application Process

The Haryana Public Selection Commission (HPSC) will unveil the application process for HPSC HCS 2023 from 1 December 2023. The HPSC HCS Application Forms will be available online through the official website. Below are the steps to guide you through the application process for HPSC HCS 2023 Recruitment:-

  1. To begin, access the official HPSC website. 
  2. Navigate to the homepage and select the “HPSC Application Form” link. You will be directed to an application window.
  3. Register by providing a valid Email ID and password.
  4. Upload the required documents in the specified format and size by scanning them digitally.
  5. Pay the application fee, which can be done through debit card, credit card, or net banking.
  6. Once the payment is completed, submit the application form.
  7. Don’t forget to take a printout of the final submission form for future reference.

Application Fees 

To complete the application form, candidates need to submit the application fee. Application fee can be submitted online through Net Banking, Debit card, and Credit Card in the stipulated time. The category-wise application fee is tabulated below for your convenience:-

Haryana Civil Services 2023 Selection Process

Applicants who want to apply for the HPSC HCS in 2023 should check the selection procedure for recruitment. The HPSC HCS Recruitment selection process comprises 3 stages. The HPSC HCS Recruitment process involves a Preliminary Examination worth 200 marks, a Main examination carrying 600 marks, a Personality Test (Viva-voce) with a weightage of 75 marks, along with Document Verification and a Medical Test.

  • The prelims exam consists of two papers and both papers are bilingual in Hindi and English.
  • Both papers have objective-type (multiple-choice) questions.
  • Paper I covers General Studies and is worth 100 marks, with a duration of 2 hours.
  • Paper II is the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) and is also worth 100 marks, with a duration of 2 hours.
  • For each incorrect response, a deduction of one-fourth of a mark will be applied.
  • The CSAT paper is qualifying in nature, with a minimum passing score of 33%.
